In an effort to improve and build upon its services, GREAT Trust periodically conducts medical camps where experts from Karikiri, Dr.Kalaignar Eye Hospital and Narayani Hospital and Research Centre, Vellore are invited to use their medical expertise to help the people of these remote rural areas of Vellore, Anaicut and Kaniyambadi Blocks. Similar medical camps are planned for the future with the goal to bring in more physicians with their special expertise to provide these poor communities with optimal medical care.
In the absence of adequate medical facilities in the villages, the medical camps organized by the GREAT Trust not only provide adequate medical care and attention but also provides constant health monitoring. The aim of the medical camp is to provide healthcare services to meet the immediate health care needs of the marginalized community in remote rural areas through standalone camps.
In giving medical assistance for eye problems a Limca Book of Records achievement was assisted by the trust to Dr.T.S.Mohammed Sayee, MS, who performed eye checkup to the poor and needy for 7 days continuously without any break. Each and every arrangement was given to him by our trust did it successfully.
HIV/AIDS is considered untreatable in some conditions. Since this disease is related to one’s moral standard, excluding of giving assistance, there needs awareness to the people especially who are under illiteracy. Manipulate this fact, many awareness camps were arranged. This activity also includes achievement. Student Ragul Ganesh of the Holy Queen’s School, who was motivated and supported by the trust, made a record in frog walk throughout 7 Kms. of the awareness rally participated by the trust.
Medical camps are conducted every year on the campus of Holy Queens School. People who are having problems meet the Doctors and get prescriptions and advice regarding severity. The Chart gives a normal illness strategy.
Conducted various mass awareness campaigns periodically to prevent the usage of Tobacco products, to free the children, adolescent and youths to get rid of the habit of drinking alcohol and consuming illicit drugs.
Conducted various periodical I.E.C programs among the children residing in the Home to build up their capacity to promote their healthy living conditions.
International Day of Disabled was celebrated with the school students and parents to give awareness on polio and its attacks. The day was also included programs on giving respect to the physically and mentally disabled persons who are normally found in society. Many disabled persons were invited and honoured on the day.
